Salsa Casino / NEW 6-week Class!
Casino is the style of salsa most danced in Cuba. The moves are simple and elegant, so you will soon travel confidently all around the dance floor. It is a playful dance, more conversation than choreography. The emphasis is always on connection and fun.
Rueda de Casino is an activity where couples form a circle and dance as a group. Imagine a circle of couples dancing together, guided by a caller who spontaneously changes the moves and switches partners fluidly in real time. Everyone in sync, everyone smiling, nobody quite sure what comes next… and that is rueda at its best! Once you have the salsa casino fundamentals, this is how you bring it to full circle.
This Salsa Casino class is suitable for all interested in learning this dynamic salsa style.
No prior dance experience is needed. We will start from the beginning, and cover foundational moves such as dile que no, enchufa, sácala and vacílala. Later, we will add signature figures like sombrero and Coca Cola. You will be dancing from the very first class! After building on a strong base of footwork and partnerwork, we will add playful elements and decorations. And, as soon as we are ready, we will begin incorporating rueda de casino.
This NEW 6-week course. On Tuesdays, we will learn the foundation of the casino style and rueda de casino, and each week will build on what we have learned previously. On Thursdays, we make room to either rehearse or add to what we learned on Tuesday, depending on what is needed. You don’t want to miss either day!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to bring a partner?
Dancing Rueda de Casino requires an even pairing of leads and follows. However, you don't need a partner to get started in this Salsa Casino class.
Do I need special shoes?
Beginners can start with street shoes or dress shoes that have ankle-straps (support) with medium-height heels or any flat-bottom shoes or regular dancing shoes. Avoid wearing shoes that have thick rubber soles such as sneakers, clogs, boots or flip-flops.
I can't make it to my class, can I switch days?
Class is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you are already attending both days as part of a 12 Class Package, you are already taking all the Casino classes available. There are no refunds for missed days. If you will miss a class, it is your responsibility to make up the work.
In the case of a 6 Class Package, please contact the instructor if you need to swap a class day.
Can I use my purchased package next cycle?
All sales are non-refundable. You must complete use all 6 classes in the current cycle. It cannot be used or extended for future workshops/cycles. It cannot be shared or transferred to another person.
Can I pay cash at the door?
All students must pay in advance. If you wish to pay in cash you must be in class no later than 10 minutes before the class starts to register and pay.
Do you offer online classes?
Not at this time.
